Websites & software

A clearer website.A simpler way to get work done.

Best Bit builds websites that help customers understand your business and take the next step. When the challenge is behind the scenes, I can help you plan and build a customer portal or internal tool around the way your business works.

You'll work directly with me, Matthew Sullivan, from the first conversation through launch.

01 / Selected work

Good work, out in the world.

Websites I've built and maintained for established businesses.

opticscapitaladvisors.com

The Optics Capital Advisors homepage, headed “Guidance for owners selling a business—and buyers pursuing the next one.”

01 / Website design & development

Optics Capital Advisors

An M&A advisory firm working with owners in Alabama and the surrounding states.

I reworked the site's positioning and page structure so owners selling a business and buyers pursuing one could each follow their own path. I also set up the content editing and the analytics view that shows which pages get read.

areasandandgravel.com

The Area Sand & Gravel materials page, with category filters above a grid of product photographs.

02 / Website design & development

Area Sand & Gravel

An aggregate and landscaping materials supplier in Central Alabama.

I organized a catalog approaching 100 products so customers can browse materials by category and see what is available for pickup or delivery. I also worked through the photography and product information behind it, and I have handled the updates and successive redesigns since.

My completed Best Bit client work is strongest in websites. Portals and internal tools are an area I'm expanding into, backed by my broader software development experience.

02 / How I can help

A useful next step for your business.

Websites

Make it easier for customers to choose your business.

Give visitors a clear explanation of what you offer and an easy way to get in touch. I turn the information you provide into clear copy, design and build your site, and set up content editing and inquiry tracking. Launch includes training and handoff materials so you know how to use what you've paid for.

Typical website projects: $4,000–$8,000.

We'll tailor the pages, content, and features to your business, then agree on one fixed price before starting. Larger catalogs, migrations, and integrations can increase the budget. Ongoing care and third-party services are additional.

Tell me what you need

01 / Workflow discovery

Know what to build—and whether you need to build it.

If work gets stuck between spreadsheets, forms, and messages, we can start with one process. We'll walk through real examples, clarify who does what, and identify where a change would help. You'll receive a written recommendation that may point to a better process, an existing tool, or a custom build.

Workflow discovery: $1,500.

Includes preparation, a working session, a review, and a written recommendation with one correction round. The plan is yours to use whether or not you hire Best Bit to build it.

02 / Portals and internal tools

Keep requests, information, and next steps together.

A customer portal could let customers submit information and check progress. An internal tool could help your staff review requests, assign work, and see what needs attention. I'll help define a focused first version around the people and process involved, with a clear scope before development begins.

Builds are quoted individually.

If the workflow is still unclear, start with discovery.

03 / Website care

Keep your website useful after launch.

Your business keeps changing. Website care gives you regular technical checks and time for the small updates that keep your site current, with a short monthly summary of what's been done and what needs attention.

Optional care: $500/month.

Includes up to one hour of monthly checks and minor maintenance, plus two hours of small improvements. Improvement hours do not roll over; larger repairs and features are quoted separately. Hosting and other vendor costs are additional.

Care service details

Requests are acknowledged within two business days, with a completion estimate provided separately. Emergency and on-call coverage are excluded. Care is month-to-month; cancel before the next billing date to stop the next month, with service continuing through the paid period.

03 / Working together

Clear steps. One point of contact.

Start by telling me what needs to improve. I'll ask questions, help you choose a useful first scope, and explain the cost before paid work begins. During the project, you'll review the work at agreed points. At launch, you'll receive training and the materials needed to manage your site, with ongoing care available if you'd like help.

  1. Discovery & scoping

We talk about what needs to improve, then agree what the work includes and what it costs.

  2. Content & design

I draft from what you supply, agree one direction, then build out from it.

  3. Build & review

You review at agreed points, with two consolidated revision rounds.

  4. Launch & handoff

Training and handoff so you know how to use what you've paid for.

  5. What comes next

Choose optional care or receive a clean handoff of source, content and accounts.
